To touch Bulgaria, to feel its uniqueness, you must visit one of its medieval capitals - Veliko Tarnovo.
The town of the hills, called in the Middle Ages Turnovgrad, is located in northern Bulgaria, between the Danube and Stara Planina, in the very foothills of the Fore Balkan. He is scared from the mouth of the Yantra River. The climate is moderate continental with cold winters and hot summers. The city is a connecting center between Eastern and Western Bulgaria, with the sea capital of Varna standing at 223 km from it, and the current capital of Sofia at 220 km. 12 km away from Veliko Tarnovo is the town of Gorna Oryahovitsa with the biggest railway station and the Gorna Oryahovitsa airport and 5 km northeast is the beautiful village of Arbanassi, which is a museum-architectural reserve and is among the hundred national tourist sites.

At the foot of Tsarevets are the excavations of the church "St Forty Martyrs", there was discovered the ring of Tsar Kaloyan, and just opposite the Balduin Tower are the miniatures, each showing a different face of the world. Near the city is the Preobrazhenski Monastery and places like Sini Vir, Dervent, the hills of the Great Dwarf and Little Dragon.
Veliko Tarnovo is interesting not only with its excavations and Renaissance buildings hung on its hills, but also with the Sveta Gora University St. Cyril and St. Methodius, where you can see the monument of Patriarch Evtimii, the last Bulgarian medieval patriarch.
