Welcome to Razlog

In the hollow is heard echo of the hoof, and then a whisper of conspirators hanging over a bible, a dagger and a revolver.
The Echo is worn among the three mountains of Rila, Pirin and Rhodopi and returns quietly where it came from, while the sun is sleeping with Razlog, the former Mehomiya. The etymology of the old name of the city according to the folk etymology derives from the word "mech", because the tar yielded here was carried with the windmills.
Razlog is located in South-West Bulgaria, Blagoevgrad region, in the very center of Razlog valley. 6 km south of it is Bansko, 52 km southeast Blagoevgrad, and 145 km in the same direction is the capital Sofia. The climate is moderate-continental with poor Mediterranean influence, penetrating from the valley of the Mesta River. The city is a place with a rich history. The first settlements date back to Thracian times. In the "Stolovatec" area, located 5 km west of the town, there are archaeological sites in which remains of a Thracian sanctuary were found. Similar are found in the Predel locality, 10 km west of the town, as in the north slopes of Pirin in the area of ​​Kalyata. The most impressive is the Megalithic Thracian sanctuary "St. George's Rock", located near the village of Bachevo, 6 km away from Razlog. The legend tells that before St. George falls into the abyss, the Lord gives wings to his horse. Even today, the footprints of the hooves are still visible on the rock the four. For the first time the name of the city was mentioned in a diploma by Vasilius II Bulgarian-Builder and as part of the Velbojdhka Episcopate. During the National Revival there is a monastery of the Rila Monastery, and at the end of the 19th century Gotse Delchev founded a committee of the IMRO. The architecture is a Renaissance style and its typical representative is the house where the historical museum "Nikola Parapunov" is housed. There are over 5,500 exhibits from different historical eras. Beautiful churches are the "Holy Annunciation" and "St. George" churches.
A place to relax during the warmer months is the city park, sunken in greenery and coolness, because of the water alleys and the lake, which at night look at the four painted doors. The ancient sundial, located on its territory, is incredible. Here you can drink coffee or just enjoy the eternity of nature. And if you decide to eat in a tavern, try the stuffed bread or so on. Although the city is not large in the Old Chitalishte, a number of cultural events such as National Week of Reading, Summer in the Library, International Chamber Music Festival. The stage is open to guest theaters. The city welcomes the Festival of Traditional People "On a Dumbbell", at which festival dance groups from all over the country participate, as well as the International Mummer Festival. The meadows in the Predela locality are in the summer announced by the wonderful folklore performances of the participants in the Pirin Pee concert. In addition to the above mentioned objects and events, the surroundings of the city offer even more exciting ones, such as the Písana Church, located 7 km away from Razlog. It together with the White Church and the church of St. Nicholas are indicative that during the Second Bulgarian Kingdom there was a large settlement here. There is an eco-trail with lots of recreation in the Golak area. Attractive is the 12-meter tower from which you can see the charm of the Pirin Mountains. And in the village of Bachevo there is the Perry Volas, which works both in summer and in winter. 9.5 km away from Razlog in the village of Dobarsko is the waterfall "Strokaloto". Here is also the temple "St Theodor Tiron and Theodor Stratilat", built in 1614. Its walls are covered with unique frescoes and are part of the Bulgarian medieval cultural heritage. Interesting are the early Christian church of St. Elijah and the church of Saint Catherine in the Katarino area. At 8 km from Razlog is the Path to the Edelweiss kingdom. It starts from Betolovo. The itinerary is marked and is covered for 3-4 hours and is also suitable for cycling. The water cascade in the village of Banya is incredible, as is the Turkish bath again. But the sight that is discovered when flying with a motodeltaplane stops breathing. For golfers is also Pirin Golf Club, standing 5 km away from Razlog. And at ski run "Kulinoto", 14 km from Razlog, you can ski.
One day you will not be able to reach Razlog and its surroundings, but you will surely hear the hoarseness of the hooves, echoing among the three mountains surrounding the valley.
