Welcome to Pleven

Welcome to Central Northern Bulgaria, the ancient historical area and the Roman province of Moesia. Welcome to the town of Pleven, located between the Danube River to the north and Stara Planina in the south. Here you will find a hot summer and a really cold winter. If you ask a random person in another Bulgarian city with what Pleven connects, he will tell you, without thinking about it - with the panorama that recreates the Pleven epopee from 1877. The panorama in Pleven is a museum built in honor of the 100th anniversary of the liberation of the city by Ottoman rule. It is one of the many monuments built in memory of the Russian soldiers killed, Bulgarian and Romanian volunteers. It is located in the area of ​​Skobelev Park, directly to the place where during the Russo-Turkish War of 1877-78 the most fierce battles took place. Another area associated with the Liberation War is the Skobeley Park, established in the distant 1904. In addition to him, in the center of the town is the famous "Ossuary", named after St. George the Victorious. It is an Orthodox chapel mausoleum and was built between 1903-1907 with donations. Interesting is the White House, so they call it the local, or as its official name "House Museum Tsar Liberator Alexander II", in which the capitulation of Osman Pasha was signed. If you are interested in history, you can also cross the threshold of the Regional Museum of History, which has about 180000 museum units collected, as well as 10000 volumes of literature. The Museum of Wine, the only one of its kind in Bulgaria, was built for the wine lovers. It is located in Kaylaka Park, which is pleasant for a walk at any time of the year, while during the summer in the artificial lake you can take a ride on the water-wheels proposed for this purpose. There is also the opportunity to ride in the fresh air through the eco paths, to make a rock climbing, explore a cave or run a carefree bicycle. Here again you can drink coffee and watch many species of water birds recorded in the Red Book of Bulgaria. For those who love high speeds in the city is built a karting track for karting and moto racing, and once a year in Pleven there is an exhibition of retro cars. Do you love sports?
